Description JULY 2006 - ARTIST OF THE MONTH at RUESCH GALLERY & CENTRAL COAST FINE ARTS is Mary "Casey" Martin. Experimental quilter and fabric artisan, Martin in recent years has been researching different techniques of knitting with fabrics, using different threads and adding a third dimension to her non-traditional quilts and wall-hangings. As 2005 & 2006 president of Wisconsin Center for the Book (a non-profit org) and producer/host of her monthly radio talk show, BookMarks & Art, (on CBS affiliate WFHR) focusing on publishing and the arts, she continues to network with people throughout the U.S. Last month, she was dubbed Regional Coordinator for a film project, NONAMES, to be filmed in central Wisconsin. If you're interested in books, arts, film & theatre...invite a friend to join you at the RECEPTION on Wednesday evening in the courtyard near Younkers at Rapids Mall in Wisconsin Rapids.

Home tours of the famed Hamerstroms are part of the WI Lit Bash in Plainfield. Special access to the home are courtesy of the Hamerstrom family and are guided by the artist-in-residence, Deann De La Ronde. Author appearances include: Jerry Apps, Justin Isherwood, Bill Christofferson, Barbara Fitz-Vroman, Laurie Lawlor, and a special reading by Wisconsin Public Radio's Glen Moberg.
